We were ready to leave SA. We had sold our house, furniture and everything all for the future and safety of our precious daughter that we waited 20 years for. We prayed about it and believe it was God’s plan for us but then God said NO this is not My plan for you. We had all the above arguments that it was the right thing to leave and our one question to God was WHY must we stay? In the last four month’s he gave us HIS answer:
What is our perception of this country which is our home how does it line up with the perception that God has of this country. Have we ever thought what might be God’s perspective on South Africa? Have we thought that God has a perspective on South Africa? A key Scripture to consider whatever our situation is Jeremiah 29:11-14.
Yes we are also concern about politics and reverse racism in our sport, schools, work place and justice system but I am a follower of Jesus and therefore desire to look at my homeland from God’s perspective. God is a God of plans; He has plans to prosper, not to harm, plans to give you hope and a future. There is a common perception that there is no hope and no future for South Africa but where is God in that perception.
It is so important that we have an apostolic and prophetic perspective on life. What is God’s plan? What is His idea of a hope and future? Do we believe His purpose is to prosper us and not to harm us? How often do I find myself making my plans “to prosper me” just to ensure that nothing can harm me. When I look at South Africa now, I see a hope and a future, I see a country that is at the very centre of God’s plan for this troubled world.
We are not in Africa and South Africa by accident. While in Athens Paul writes – From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. Acts 17:26-28.
The basic truth is that in Him we live and move and have our being.
Jesus said – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. I can assure you that we followers of Jesus Christ have still a lot to do in making disciples for Jesus in South Africa as well as Africa.

Yeah , very interesting and excellent article and comments. Firstly congrats to John Smit and his team of players, under the guidance of Jake White, bringing the RWC back to our beloved country SA. Hennie I do agree with some of your statements and comments, but let’s look at some facts:

The country itself is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and I’m most great full to my Creator for the privilege He bestowed on me and my family to grow-up in this country, there is nothing wrong with this country, in my opinion the problems that most of us face today lies in the hands of the people ruling the country. Yes you’re right, things started to change 14 years ago for a lot of people, if you look around you, you will notice that there is bloodshed every single day in this country, infact it is war at a grand scale (as you described it) the only difference is that it is camouflaged as everyday petty crime, which is by now normal for us in this country, like it is normal to wake –up every morning in our own prison cells behind steel bars. It is normal for an insurance company – NOT, to insure your household because there is no steel bars, and an electronic alarm system installed at your property or security company to keep guard. To me this is not normal; God never intended that we should live like this.

Let’s look at some of the changes or let’s see what does the ruling party stand for, based upon their Freedom Charter:

The people shall govern ---------------- they do

All people shall have equal rights ------- does that mean the criminal, the rapist and the murderer as well, at this stage it seems that their rights are more protected than mine?

The people shall share in the counties wealth ----- it’s a lie, only the comrades at the top share in that wealth, through corruption

The land shall be shared amongst those who work it ---- good idea, but don’t just demand it, and then take it, and don’t work it.

All shall be equal before the law ------ not some above the law

All shall enjoy equal human rights ------ why take my rights away?

There shall be work and security ----- for whom?

The doors for learning and culture shall be opened ----- where is all the learning and training facilities? Training of artisans, at places like SAA, ESKOM, ISCOR, TRANSNET ECT. Those doors are all closed. That’s why we sit with a shortage of skilled labour in this country. This country could export skilled labour 14 years ago! Training has stopped in these 14 years, and now we must just sit and accept the fact that there will be load shedding, due to a shortage of electricity ---Why? Because the people running companies like ESKOM, do not know the word MAINTENANCE, instead they tell us the coal got wet due to a sudden rainstorm. Please people we’re not idiots!
There shall be houses, security and comfort ----- did any body tell the masses that you don’t just get a house, you’ve got to work and earn a salary to buy a house, where you can stay in, and then buy security fencing and an alarm system so that you might live in comfort (for what its worth)

There shall be peace and friendship ------ What is this? Not being in the country for 2 years, a young girl comes back to visit her father, she get tied to his body while these peaceful and friendly people are busy killing him, telling her that he’ll be ok. He died! A good friend’s daughter (11 years) goes to bed lately in her jeans, because she afraid of getting raped after they where attacked in their secured home while they where sleeping. Why?????

You know a lot of our politicians and ministers say things like “the quota system is out and we need to get another name for the Bafana”, but my friends; the proof is in the pudding, behind these leaders sit the real leaders and they are:
The ANC youth league
Cosato
The South African communist Party
Umkhonto we Sizwe

Hennie I do not agree with your statement that we as whites are to proud to recognise a good performance by a black because of our total negativity, that might be the case with you, but definitely not the majority of the white people.
Be careful when you see a new thing, do not change your perspective of life because after awhile this knew thing now looks normal because everybody seems too happy with it, be aware the enemy is looming and waiting around the corner. That is what the Word says.

I really hope that things can get better in this country, well maybe it will, because Mr. Jacob Zuma yesterday said that when he becomes president this country will be even better --- worse? Who knows?
Well if it’s better then all of us might be able to swim at our houses, bathe in the sea, sit at our fireplaces during rainstorms drinking our precious red wines, and after the rain we’ll get into our Hummers, Fortuners, Q7’s or whatever 4x4 we posses to go and eat seafood at the sea, and on our way back, we’ll stop to hunt some rare antelope so that we can display the head in our Bluebull bars, before we set of for our weekly Microlight training.

I will keep on praying for this country, but we must open our eyes to see that racism has made a huge U- turn.

This article is supposedly to be about sport, but is turned into a racial and religious debate. How do we make sense of all this? You are right, let’s pray for our country and our people. The Lord has planned out our lives in the finest detail and we must pray for his guidance through the trials and tribulations we will go through in this short time on earth. If you look at the tension in the Middle East and surrounding areas we can be truly thankful that we are not fighting an open war against each other in this country but at least some of our people try and accommodate each other where we can. A lot of missionaries go out into the world to bring others the Word of God and salvation through Christ but so many people in South Africa still needs to hear that there is Salvation through Christ. How do we justify that?

I was privileged to be part of a charity golf day yesterday and was very impressed to see the likes of Naas Botha, Pierre Spies and Arnold Geerts in the line up. I did not see much of them on the course but I was amazed to hear from one of my Co-workers at a watering hole that Naas was complaining of how full the course was and how it slowed the play down. Are we ever happy? The day was for charity and not only that it was for a house with needy kids without parents, mostly white kids if I might add. Why do you then get involved in charity if you complain about the pace of play? You are supposed to have fun? That is what good sportsmanship is about isn`t it?

We must stop complaining about politics, sport etc. and pray to God that the people who guides this nation of ours start seeking answers from Him to make decisions about what is good and just for this country.

Wow, the seriousness startled me!
I love to see the different views on this subject!
I think that is also where respect can be recognized.
Hennie, your comment is thought out well, you can immediately see where you are living, not the first time you thought about this exact situation/questionnaire, is it?
Like you said - your home is where your heart is, and with the Lord in our hearts, you must follow him, and that is then the difference between called to live, or just living itself.

May I add a question then to this sticky situation...?
Will we then stand up and physically fight a war for our country? May we refer back to Old Testament scriptures to try and justify it? Will it ever come to that? (Looking at Zimbabwe as example where no-one is fighting or will fight - ever)

I love to see the different views on this subject!
I think that is also where respect can be recognized.
Hennie, your comment is thought out well, you can immediately see where you are living, not the first time you thought about this exact situation/questionnaire, is it?
